Frequently Asked Questions

A compounding pharmacy creates customized medications based on individual needs. This service can involve adjusting dosage levels, altering delivery methods (such as incorporating a tablet into a cream or liquid), or removing allergens or dyes from medications.

We can compound creams, ointments, capsules, suspensions, suppositories, nasal sprays and irrigations, troches/lozenges, child-friendly dosage forms and flavors, veterinary compounds and much more!

Compounding is particularly beneficial for patients with unique needs, such as those requiring personalized hormone replacement therapy or those with allergies to dyes or excipients commonly found in standard medications. It also supports patients who need multiple medications combined into one or those who require different dosage forms, like topical treatments or suppositories for localized therapy. Additionally, compounding is a solution for individuals facing medication shortages or discontinued drugs. For prescribers, it offers the flexibility to provide customized care to patients who may not respond well to conventional treatments.

Your healthcare provider may recommend compounded medication if standard medications are not meeting your specific needs, whether it’s due to allergies, dosage adjustments, or other requirements. You can also speak to one of our pharmacists for more information.
Compounded medications are safe when prepared by licensed pharmacists following strict guidelines. At U-Save-It Pharmacy, we ensure that all medicines are compounded using high-quality ingredients and rigorous safety protocols.
In some cases, compounded medications can be more cost-effective than commercially available options, particularly for medications that are difficult to find or no longer manufactured.

Compounding Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a personalized approach to hormone therapy where hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are custom-mixed to match an individual’s unique needs. Unlike mass-produced hormone therapies, compounded BHRT is tailored based on specific hormone levels, which are often measured through blood or saliva tests. This custom formulation offers more flexibility and targeted treatment. It’s designed to mimic the body’s natural hormones more closely, which can help alleviate symptoms of hormone imbalances such as mood swings, fatigue, and hot flashes.
Compounding Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) involves preparing customized, small doses of naltrexone to help manage various conditions, such as chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, and inflammation. LDN is compounded at doses much lower than those typically used for other medical purposes. These low doses can help regulate the immune system and reduce inflammation, providing relief for conditions like fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, and Crohn’s disease.
Compounding capsules for nasal irrigation involves preparing medications or supplements in capsule form specifically designed for nasal application. This approach allows for targeted treatment of conditions like chronic sinusitis, allergies, or infections by delivering medications such as antibiotics, antifungals, or anti-inflammatories directly to the nasal passages. The custom-formulated capsules provide a more precise and personalized method to help reduce inflammation, clear infections, and improve breathing, addressing the patient’s specific nasal and sinus issues effectively.
